Welcome to the Morton Makery
We are excited to welcome to students and staff to this amazing space located on the second floor of the Knowledge Center at Morton East High School. The Makery is a place for discovering new skills in science, art and technology. We encourage you to explore this Lib Guide and learn about the incredible resources and materials that are part of the Makery. Make sure to check back often as we will be adding materials and resources all of the time.
The Makery has basic knitting supplies available for students and staff to take home. The supplies are in a kit that contains a ball of yarn, a pair of size 8 needles and basic instructions.
Below is a box with a link to Sheep and Stitch - a great guide how-to guide for beginning knitters.

The Cricut Maker is a versatile cutting tool with many options for creating. It can cut paper, vinyl and fabric. The Cricut Maker is supported with lots of great videos and we have a Morton East Cricut Access subscription that gives directions for hundreds of projects.
A Lap Loom is a manual "old school" tool for weaving. It is a square frame with pegs. Yarn or string is threaded to create a "warp" and a "weft". Then a shuttle is used to add more rows and create a design. The link above this paragraph will take you to a great video with instructions for creating your first weaving project.
